Editing your Application Essay
There are some major components, which your essay may require to be of the best quality. To edit essay is one of these.
The content of your paper should be your initial concern and you wish to edit essay for that before spending too much time worrying about the smaller details. The evident question you need to ask yourself is, “Have I coped with answering the asked question?” The people getting acquainted with your application asked certain questions as they wanted to know some things concerning their applicants. In case you have not answered this question, you are weakened your effort before even beginning.
Questions to ask:
1. Have I been specific?
2. Does my essay state something significant about me?
3. Is it personal?
Your essay must have an organized structure. Though you did not make an outline before writing, you should be capable to visualize easily what your outline would look like on your essay paper.
To check and edit essay structure, you should copy and paste the opening sentence of every paragraph into another document. In case the admissions officer look through only these sentences, would they be capable to follow your thoughts?
After you have defined what the subject of every paragraph is, you should check that every paragraph discusses its subject and you are not creating about tangents or forwarding the view and not supporting it.
After paragraphs, you need to check sentence structure. When you employ all short and simple sentences or all long and complex sentences, you are either going to confuse or bore your reader. You should vary the sentence length.
